What is the fediverse?

Fediverse stands from the words (Federation + Universe)

Servers share information with each other to enable people to connect and discover new things across the fediverse.

For example, Imagine that you're in Twitter (now X) and you want follow someone from youtube without leave twitter!

You don't need a google account because you already have a twitter account. You can follow that youtube channel from twitter!

But YouTube/Twitter(X)/Facebook .... Doesn't Work likes this!

Yeah. This is TRUE.

Because these sites are called CENTRALIZED Social Media.

That means these sites are isolated from each others. Do you want read tweets/posts? You need to open an account on twitter. Do you want to upload videos or make a comment? Open an account on Youtube

The Fediverse changes this

Is like youtube,twitter,facebook or instagram are interconnected. You need only one account!

There no one mastodon or one misskey... There are tons of mastodons or misskeys

Each site we call them 'instances'. An those instances talk to each others*

It may be the case that one instance of mastodon, misskey or any other instance cannot communicate with another, this is because each instance is managed by a person or group of people. This is called defederation and if you as a user of that instance want to communicate with a suspended instance you have two options: Ask your instance administrator to remove the block. Or set up your own instance (This is the best solution).

Warning: Self-Hosting you'll need a little computer experience and involves costs (Domain,Email provider, Hosting...).

An example is the instance mastodon.social and aethy.com. You can't watch any aethy's account from mastodon.social because mastodon social defederate aethy.com

However you can watch any mastodon.social account from aethy but if you tried to follow someone from mastodon.social it will not work.

Also keep in mind if you register an account on a mastodon instance or a misskey instance you cannot change the username afterwards!

If you want to do this, you will need to open a new account in the same instance or another with that desired username if the handle isn't already taken in that instance

About suspended accounts in Twitter now X

One thing that happened to me on twitter is that the @nekoprogram account was suspended without giving me a reason. This means I can't follow anyone, like, repost any posts, or do anything. The fediverse also changes this, if I get suspended from one instance I can migrate to another and take my followers with me or make my own instance (my instance my rules) You can't take your posts they stay in the old instance... Also the username on twitter or X can't be changed so my new account is @nekoprogramX. because I can't change it to nekoprogram. I would have to delete the previous suspended account but suspended accounts cannot be deleted.

You should also know that if you get suspended from an X / Twitter account, you will have to create a new email address, otherwise they will suspend your new account. (That's why I don't like twitter, you have no control).
